American actor and stunt coordinator Ke Huy Quan, commonly known as Jonathan Ke Quan, was born in Vietnam. In the 1984 film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Quan portrayed Short Round; in The Goonies, he portrayed Data (1985).
Both Mount Gleason Junior High School in Tujunga, California, and Alhambra High School in Alhambra, California, were attended by Quan. Quan graduated with a degree in 1999 from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He worked with Hong Kong combat choreographer Corey Yuen on numerous projects after graduating.

He, his father, and five siblings arrived in a refugee camp in Hong Kong while his mother and three other siblings fled to Malaysia. The entire family moved to the US in 1979.
